Youth Programs, Sports, & Fun! Kiwanis Bunny Breakfast/Easter Egg Hunt 4,000 eggs will be hidden in this year's Easter Egg Hunt which takes place Saturday prior to Easter weekend at Country Park. The festivities kick off at 8:30 a.m. with the Bunny Breakfast. The hunt starts at 10:00 a.m. sharp. Children 8 and younger can search for eggs hidden by the Easter Bunny, cost is $1.00 per youth. After the hunt, take a walk through F.F.A.'s petting zoo. Diaper Derby The 28th Annual Grandview Parks and Recreation Diaper Derby will be held during the Yakima Valley Jr. Fair on Friday, August 12th at 6:00 p.m., the cost is $1.00 per crawler. All toddlers who have not yet learned to walk prior to the day of the event will be eligible. Each baby will be timed the distance of a ten foot crawl. Fun, prizes and ribbons for all! Star Gaze The 19th Annual Star Gaze Festival for kids ages 6-12 will be an overnight activity held at Country Park on May 20th and 21st. Activities will include games, contests, snacks, hot-dog feed, smores, storytelling, midnight madness, campfire, and much much more. Watch for more details. Space is limited. Cost is $10.00 per child ($15.00 per non-city resident) and includes two meals and snacks. Youth Playground Program This exciting program is designed for youth 6-12 years of age. Sports, games, crafts, field trips, swimming and more are in store during this program. It will be held at Eastside Park on Mondays and Wednesdays and at the Westside Park on Fridays from 10:00 am. - 2:00 p.m. The program runs July 6th through August 10th. Kids are asked to wear tennis shoes on a daily basis. A $30.00 registration fee per child ($45.00 non-city resident) will be payable by a parent or guardian. Due to limited space, registration will be limited to 25 children! Pre-registration will begins mid June and will be accepted on a first come first serve basis. Boys and Girls T-Ball and Coach Pitch Baseball For boys and girls ages 5 to 8 years of age on or before August 31. Registration will be held April 4-15 (Mon-Fri) from 1-6 p.m. at the Parks Office. A $15.00 registration fee ($22.50 non-city resident) will be payable per person at the time of registration and a parent or guardian must be present to register. Adult volunteer coaches are needed to run this event. 2011 Grand Hoops Fiesta Watch for information this summer for our 17th Annual Grand Hoops Fiesta 3 on 3 basketball tournament for youth ages 7-18. Tournament date is set for Saturday, June 18th on West Second Street near the Grandview Middle School. Registration deadline is June 10. Cost is $60.00 per team. Youth Tumbling Camp This camp, for youth 4-8 years of ages is scheduled for June 13-16th, Monday through Thursday 9:00 am. This program will focus on basic tumbling techniques, and other fun activities physical fitness. A $15.00 registration ($22.50 non-city resident) fee will be payable by a parent or guardian to the Parks Office for each participant. The class is limited to the first 16 to register. The camp will be held at Compass Gym off Euclid Street. Track & Field Day This event is open to all youth ages 1-12 years of age. Events will include 50 yard dash, long jump, softball throw, 100 yard dash, 400 meter run and more. This event will take place Monday, July 11th at 7:00 p.m. at the High School Stadium. Registration starts at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $1.00 per runner. Tennis Camp Monday through Thursday, June 20-23rd. This week long camp is for youth ages 8-12. Court time is 9:00 a.m. Registration fee is $15.00 ($22.50 non-city resident) and there is a minimum of 8 students, maximum of 16 students per group. Frenzy Friday Supervised open gym activities for Grandview Middle School students. The fun takes place on Friday afternoons from 11:45 am - 2 pm in the gymnasium. Enjoy basketball, volleyball, walking and more. A safe place to "hang out" with friends. The activities are FREE for students. Parent permission is required. The program will utilize the "once in, once out" policy. Water Carnival August 9th at 1:00 p.m., the Grandview City Pool will become a carnival. Diving for pennies and toys, wacky diving, and much more water fun is planned for this event. Activities for non-swimmers outside pool area. Cost is $1.00 per youth, good for five (5) activities. Just For Kicks Youth soccer skills competition is Friday, April 8th at Euclid Park at 6:00 pm. Cost is $1.00 per child and is open to kids 5 - 12. Adaptive Programs (designed for adults with disabilities) Adaptive Gym The 3rd Thursday of each month, starting in April is Adaptive Gym night. This event is held at Compass Gym from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Plenty of games and fun for everyone: kickball, T-ball, relays and much much more. Adaptive Aquatics Come join our staff for some fun in the water. Great therapy and a super way to cool off in the hot summer months. Class dates are tentatively set for August 8-11th from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. |
