Carl L. Stevens Senior Center

The Carl L. Stevens Senior Center is located at 401 West Second and is open to all individuals 55 years of age or older. It offers a diversified spectrum of leisure opportunities. Listed below are just a few of the activities and programs going on each month. Be sure to stop by the Senior Center for a monthly calendar for specific times and events. Senior Programs
Yakima County Food Service Program
Sponsored by Yakima County, this program offers the opportunity for senior citizens, over 60, to enjoy a nutritious noon meal. These meals are offered Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday starting at 11:45 a.m. Pauline Brownlee, Site Manager, can be contacted at 882-9230 in regards to the desired meals (one day in advance). Home delivery of meals is offered to Seniors over 60 who are home-bound due to injury. For more information about this program, please call 882-9230 or 1-800-572-7354, ext. 4240.
Senior Citizens Club
For $1, you too can join this club. Monthly meetings, numerous social gatherings, fund raisers throughout the year and much more. Our 2008 Senior Citizens Club President is Don Thomas.
Transportation
People for People, sponsored by Yakima County, offers senior citizens access to minibus service for their transportation needs. Transportation to noon meals, shopping, doctor appointments, and more are available. This service is available Monday through Friday (24 hour notice is required). Contact People for People dispatch at 509-457-1111 for more details.
Blood Sugar/Blood Pressure
On the third Tuesday of each month at 10:30 am have your blood pressure checked with nurses. Blood sugar will be monitored on a quarterly basis.
Senior Activities
Potluck
Every Wednesday at the Senior Center is Potluck lunch. At noon, you can enjoy several different main dishes and the company of others. Bring a main dish and table setting.
Dances
The first, third and fifth Friday of each month are the nights for dancing. The music begins at 7:00 p.m. and goes until 10:00 p.m. A $5.00 donation will be collected at the door and ladies are asked to bring finger food. Come and dance the night away.
