Boards & Commissions
City Council The government of the City of Grandview is vested in a Mayor and seven Council members, all of whom are elected for a four-year term. The City Council is responsible for making all policy relative to the operation of the City, enacting ordinances and resolutions, conducting public hearing, and responding to the public's needs. Planning Commission 5 members, 5 year term expires December 31st, appointed by the Mayor, confirmed by Council. City Clerk acts as Secretary, Department Heads are ex-officio members with the right to speak--no vote.
Civil Service Commission 3 members, 6 year terms expires December 31st of even number year, appointed by Mayor, confirmed by Council.
Senior Advisory Board 7 member board consists of one City Council member, three public at-large, current chair and chair pro-tem of Grandview Senior Citizen Club, and a senior representative of the local American Legion Club. 1 year term expires December 31st of each year or until replacements are named by the Mayor.
Ethics Board 3 member board at-large, 2 year term expires December 31st, appointed by Mayor and confirmed by Council.
Beautification Commission Originated in 1987, amended in 1992 - 6 members, 6 year term expired December 31st, appointed by Mayor and confirmed by Council.
Museum Board Board of not more than 7 or less than 4 members determined by the Council annually or at expiration of a term or when a vacancy occurs, appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by Council, 3 year terms expires December 31st
Library Board of Trustees 5 member board appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by Council. Council may, in addition, designate a member of the school board or one of the teaching staff of School District to be an ex officio member of the board. Five year term expires December 31st on a different year.
Mosquito Control Board (City Appointment) 2 year term expires December 31st, appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by Council.
Public Corporation Board of 5 members governed by the Council with appointments to be done by Resolution on January 1st. Charter Section 6.3, as amended by Resolution No. 87-8 allows for 6 year terms, with each director serving until his/her successor is designated and qualified, except that no public official of the City serving ex-officio shall serve for a term longer than his/her term of office; appointments shall be for unexpired terms of office. Memorandum Agreement for City staff assistance: City Attorney, Corporation Attorney; City Administrator, Corporation Secretary; City Treasurer, Corporation Treasurer; other City personnel to perm work as needed.
